Once the kids are grown, you get used to a certain level of quiet and order and cleanliness. At first, you mourn the loss of your children and all the sports and friends and the general hubbub of having an active family. Then you wake up one day, realizing that after you cleaned up the kitchen it actually stayed clean. And you only have to wash one set of sheets instead of four. And the total at the grocery counter no longer takes your breath away. And you no longer worry who is doing what, when, and where. It is at those moments you realize that having an empty nest isn't so bad after all.

Hi Carol, Loved your post about Hawaii. Allen & I are in Hawaii now for our 30th anniversary!! You are right, SO BEAUTIFUL! I thought I posted a comment last week on that post but just checked and don't see it. Guess I didn't do it correctly. I
will be in touch about our weekend next month.
